Introduction The Music First Audio Classic Preamplifier was introduced in 2003 and conceived to position itself at the very heart of a true high end hi fi system. In just a few short years it has gone on to take pride of place in the high end systems of many satisfied music lovers around the world. The MKII version of our preamplifier builds on the success of the Classic model, adding new features together with improved audio performance. Our products are built by hand in on the south coast of the UK. This allows us to offer a wide range of custom options and modifications. Description The Music First Audio MKII Preamplifier is designed to sit at the centre of a high end hi fi system. Connected between source components and power amplifiers it controls level and source selection. Like all Music First Audio preamplifiers, it features an optional +6dB of passive gain to accommodate source which might otherwise require active boosting. It is housed in a full sized, custom designed aluminium case measuring 88mm x 432mm x 250mm The core component of the MKII Preamplifier is the TX102MKII attenuation transformer. This hand crafted transformer is the result of thirty plus years of high end transformer design. It features twenty three separate 'taps' for a total of twenty four (including mute) volume steps. The new MKII version of the TX102 has a 25% larger 'core'. The increased core size means improved level handling and better low frequency response and extension. For more information about Transformer Volume Control (TVC) please see the TECHNICAL section of our website. The MKII version of our preamplifier also adds remote control of level. The remote control uses a stepper motor on the rear of the switch, there are no active components in the signal path. Like all Music First Audio products, each unit is made by hand at our workshop on the south coast of the UK. Specifications
